About Longstanding Roofing
A roofing company built on the long view
We replace roofs, reroof houses and put new roofs on new structures, and we plan each job around the part of the roof that will give out first.

Why the plan starts with the layers
A roof looks like one thing from the street. Up close it is a stack: a covering on top, underlayment beneath it, flashing sealing every joint and opening, and a deck holding the whole stack to the rafters. Each layer is made of something different, and each wears out on its own timetable.
That is the idea behind Longstanding Roofing. A tile or a shingle can come through weather in good shape while the underlayment under it has dried out, or the flashing around a chimney has lifted. If the plan only looks at the covering, the next failure is already built into the new roof.
So the work here begins with questions about the lower layers. What is under the covering, what is the deck made of, which flashing can be reused and which cannot. The answers shape the scope, and the scope is written down before the roof comes off.

How we work
Four habits run through every job, whatever the material.
Layers named one by one
A scope that says new roof and stops there hides the decisions that matter. Ours names the covering, underlayment, flashing and deck work separately.
The permit path found early
Each place has its own building office, and some answer to the County. We find out which one governs the address before the job is scheduled.
Code tied to the job
Energy rules, fire classes and tear-off requirements change what a replacement must include. We say which ones apply to your roof and why.
Plain answers
If a question has a firm answer, you get it in a sentence. If it depends on what the deck turns out to be, we say that instead of guessing.
Which jobs we take
Replacements, reroofs and new roofs are the work we plan around, from tile and shingle to metal and flat roofs. The form takes any roof job, and each request is read.
Questions about roofing companies
How many roofing contractors are in the US?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics counts roofing jobs rather than companies. Its Occupational Outlook Handbook, last modified 27 Aug 2026, reports 166,900 roofer jobs in 2025. A national headcount matters less than whether one company writes its scope clearly.
Can a general contractor do roofing work in California?
Yes, when roofing is one part of a larger project, a general contractor may take it on. A contract for roofing alone is a narrower case, and the state sets a different requirement for it. Ask any contractor which category your contract falls under.
How long does the average roofing contractor stay in business?
No average tells you how long one company will last, and it would not predict your result. A better test is the paperwork in front of you: a written scope, a named permit office and each roof layer accounted for.
